thought about subwoofer placment...
subs in compartment between rear seats..
I've come across the picture a few months back of a guy that put 2 6.5 inch JL Audio woofers in that same area. It looked really good. I went to the top installer in town and showed him the picture and asked for a price quote. Anything you put in there will be too heavy for the plastic to hold. They were going to have to fabricate a piece using poly and wood- cost.... with the two woofers was close to $1000 out the door. Needless to say, I didn't go that route for that price.
Oh, it can so be done and quite painlessly with only jigsaw, I have a comp set of 5.25 with tweets in the centre pass through and it fits absolutely perfect and sounds great. I just haven't got around to post the pics. I will post them this weekend when I get home.
Not to resurect an old thread, but was there a final decision on wether or not mounting (2) 5" - 6.5" woofers will require more "stiffening" of the rear compartment cover? I was thinking of putting some smallish "free air" woofers there.
What is the interest?
If a custom enclosure was built for 2 6"subs or 1 8" sub. What would be a fair price. I could take a mold off the cover and build an an enclosure that would "pop" into place. If I can build enough of them, it could be reasonably priced as well.
Let me know if you guys have interest.

well, i had never done this set up...but i still plan to do it eventually. It would most definitely need stiffening, the vibrations of the bass would weaken the center piece greatly. It would probably be best to put a lot of fiberglass on it.

Enclosure Compatibility for the 6W3v3-4ohm
The sealed box size recommended by JL Audio is 0.15 cu/ft. A diagram is provided in the owner's manual for a sealed box with external dimensions of 9" W x 9" H x 6.75" D, assuming 3/4" thick material. (If you are using 5/8" thick materials, you should subtract 1/4" from each dimension.)
This is per speaker, so we would need someone to build a custom box that would mate to the pass through cover.
