subwoofer question
I would get as small of a subwoofer as possible for this car. I havent checked what the exact size of the speakers are in this car, but the factory ones look HUGE. And this is a very small cabin compared to something like my old 4 door accord. Your sub in that cabin would overpower your tweets by quite a bit, and you wouldnt get the proper imaging.
Do yourself a favor and get a head unit with Time Alignment, put a good pair of woofers in the doors (Look at polks. I dont know if they make speakers that actually fit these doors but it is worth looking at crutchfield for some decent speakers). And the factory angle of the tweeters isnt very good (in my 2005 it isnt anyways), so you can either see if the tweets you buy fit in the casing and try to rotate them, or do some work on the door and do inlying tweeters there so you can align them properly (however the doors on the 8 seem thin so it might be a stretch to do that).
Then once you have the front all set up and your time alignment perfect, if you still dont have enough bass, you can get a smaller sub to put in the back (or a low powered 12'' to get very musical low end). Then, get a decent amp (prolly polk, i trust em cause a lot of there stuff is marine certified), and put that low crossover way down low for the sub (prolly about 60-70hz), and you will go bananas at the concert you get. I dont remember if the 8 comes with back speakers, but if it does, get rid of em. Just use the front 2 woofs, tweets, and sub. Put em all on a 4 channel polk amp (1 woof/tweet to each channel, and then sub crossed to the last 2), and be amazed.
Granted, I have not tried messing with audio in my 8, only previous cars. But the cabin in the 8 is considerably smaller than other cars, so to get decent imaging/sound, you want to make sure your front setup is correct, and a good head unit with time alignment. A lot of people complain because they want tons of pounding bass in their cars and try to get the biggest/baddest sub, and multiple ones at that. You dont need em. you just need to set your s*** up right.
And to specifically answer your question, you cant hijack anything for 2 subs. You would end up clipping your subs and destroying them. Like I said previously, I'm not 100% sure about any of the stock stuff on the 8, but if you say theres an amp already there powering the system, you do not want to add subs to either the head unit or whatever small amp is already there. You'll ruin your subs.
