Stock or aftermarket?

alright im on my way to getting an rx8 but i don't feel like droppin another grand on the corksport and a head unit..so my question is..whats the stock system in most rx8s and is it possible to hook up an rca output converter so i can at least throw my subs in the trunk.

Wow. You've done enough research to know about the corksport kit, but not even any idea what a LOC is or what it does... amazing.

I don't have a problem helping people that have tried to find answers, but can't find exactly what they are looking for. I do, however, have a problem with people who don't even pretend to make an attempt.

here is an Instructional Video

are you the same person from ForumsHawaii.net who was asking the same question?
Just curious. If so... when i sent you the link to this subforum.. i didnt send it hoping you would post the same question again. All the info you need is on here... just search around a bit.

Anyway, a very simple answer to your question...
Does anyone with a stock headunit have subs in the trunk? Find the answer to that and youll find out everything you need to know.

okay my bad on not catching on to the abbreviation hah..i definitely know what a line output converter...ive prolly installed damn near a hundred of them..i said in the first post rca output converter which is what we refer to them at mobil link as..but its obviously the same thing..but as we all know with an LOC you are losing quality in the signal to the amps and they are just gay because they mess with the dash on some cars like my saab (not saying that that would happen on the rx8)...but as far as the stock system..i know some of these rx8's are loaded with a bose system..is it certain years that have the bose speakers such as '05 and newer or is it simply an option that the buyer could have got on any year when it was bought?

if you've installed nearly 100 of them, then you would know that they can be hooked up to pretty much anything with speaker wires. Including the 8.

No the 8s do not come with RCA pre-outs. and i have NO idea what you mean by the LOC messing with the dash?

as for the signal loss, yes you lose signal with every step, but with a quality LOC that loss is nearly negligible. - again something that a person who has installed 100's would know.

as for you last question, yes the bose system is an option. And most people on this forum think it is a very poor option.

well you can never be to sure so i thought i would ask someone who knows a thing or two about an rx8..the saab 9-5 and an audi a6 are the only two installs ive done where this has happened..i haven't quite figured it out yet but since everything runs off one switchboard it pulls from the display and then on some of the displays such as the clock there will be certain lights that don't show up...and a quality LOC? i mean ive never really seen a shitty one but okay..but to perfect an audio system you always want rca's running..as far as the bose system, do you know why people think its a poor option? i'd like to know why that is

I've never had experience with Bose prior to my 2004 RX-8 Touring that has the Bose system. I can now confirm the saying... "No highs, no lows... must be Bose!"

That basically captures how the stock Bose system sounds in my 8. Lots of mids, mid lows, mid highs, but nothing in the deep low or crisp high spectrum.

I hope to upgrade sometime (soon hopefully) and have gotten much insight and suggestions from this forum, particularly WikkedOne (thanks guy.)

There's a ton of info here. Take some time and soak it in. In particular, read the stickies and try some specific searches. The search capability has some shortfalls, but it's better than nothing.

Regarding LOC's messing up displays on the dash- that's pretty freaky. My electrical engineering background suggests that connection of the LOC has somehow caused some undue load on the head unit and/or display unit.

Best of luck.
