You could find something like this and just ditch most of it except the din sized box.... Might have to do some custom fitting not to let it fall out on you.

I'd think about returning the kit and buying the correct one. Or sell it yourself and buy the correct one. You don't want hack up an install in an RX8. This isn't some 89 Bonneville hoopty.

But if you insist, the universal pocket from Metra would probably work better. They have mounting holes right on the sides of the pocket. And I think that's how you'll have to attach it to the double-din brackets on the Metra kit. 99-00-8000 or 88-00-9008 are the part number if I remember right.

But again, I'd really try to return it or resell it and buy the correct one. Or buy a double din headunit. They're cheaper than you may think.

The composite video connections are clearly labeled "R-CAM" for rear camera and "VIDEO" for video output. If you're not installing a rear camera or another monitor, then ignore them. The two wires not in the harness are clearly labeled "REVERSE" for reverse trans signal and "PRK SW" for parking brake switch. If you're not installing a rear camera, ignore the reverse wire. However, the parking brake switch wire must be connected properly for full motion video to display. You can google any bypasses or hacks for this, so you can watch video while the car is in motion. It may be as simple as grounding the wire, or installing a switch, maybe re-pinning the harness, etc. I don't know. Never done the bypass for that particular unit.

I said you'll have to google it. Maybe that's all it takes. Maybe it requires something more. Every model from every manufacturer is different. Google video bypass DDX318 and see what you can find. You might have to lurk on some Kenwood forums or something.
