Speaker Configs for installs

Ive tried to post this a couple of times today, but every time i do my comp screws up, so if its a multiple topic post, please forgive!

OK

I thought it would be a good idea to start a thread on possible speaker configurations for aftermarket installs in the RX-8. This way people who want to do an install can sort through these posts and look at the theoretical pros and cons of each config and mix and match some ideas to make an istall theyll like.

I always start with a simple design, and go from there if I need to. So, I would look at installing a set of my favorite 6.5" two way components in the doors, and a pair of subs in the parcel shelf or seatbacks. If I desired, I could add another set of components for the rear doors for the rear passenger, but I don't see a need for that myself.

I personally like it with no rear fill myself, so I would do without it.

I would use the center speaker for the NAV alone, and possibly for a hands-free cellphone setup.

A dolby 5.1 or 6.1 setup could be installed, but there isn't too much mainstream music available in 5.1. I don't need to watch theater movies in the car, so there is no need for me to have it. By the time surround music were more available, the industry standard may very well change again from 6.1 to something else. So I wouldn't invest my time or effort into 5.1 or 6.1 for the car just yet.

Well, that's my personal take on it, anyway.

thats a neat setup.

i was thinking, if you wanna go really crazy, have something like this.

from front to back:

6.5's in both front doors, tweeters in window corner, hidden mic and speaker wired for handsfree and cell integration.

ceiling mounted center fill, tweaters in the rear top corners, some more 6.5s in the rear doors, dual 10in subs in trunk

edit:
you could get even crazier like adding 2 8in subs in the rear doors, and tweeters in the rear doors aswell, like by the handles or somehting. and then some like 4x7 or what have you mids in the front doors wth some more tweets on the floating b-pillar

of course these are all just rough ideas that need balancing and such
