some noob questions

1)was searching a long threaded post about flooding? (hard to go through so many pages)does this happen alot with the 2005 model? i live in cali and usually warm..does anyone have problems in warm weather or is it just cold places.and how long would u have to warm up the engine before starting. should i be worried about flooding????

2)my oil gauge that supposed to be in the middle is slightly towards the H side..is that normal or does it have to be exactly in the middle. woould adding that engine coolant work i read in manual?

3)do you guys use the stp gas treatment? u know the ones that say u save gas if out in with your fueling and it cleans it out

4)i know its premium gas but which gas do u prefer..i usually do chevron

thx for your time

edit:looks like i put this in the wrong forum too so sorry about that

1-dont turn the car off while its still on the cold side...wait generally 5 minutes after the temp is in the middle

2-thats basically an idiot guage but its supposed to be oil pressure and please dont put coolant in your oil....its supposed to be on the h side....and check your oil level after 2-3 fill ups at the gas station and you should be fine

3-dont bother we all have sucky fuel economy....goes with the territory of a rotary and a sports car

4-i only use premium but i beat the hell out of my car....lower octane will retard timing and give you less power...you can use 87 or higher but you cant drive as hard...and i prefer exxon 93 or shell 94 octane.....

per your edit....yup this shouldnt be in audio.....but im sure a mod will move it

ps....there are tons of threads you can find in the technical are and search is your friend..im sure some one will flame you for it...remember to put your suit on before checking this thread :D

It would be pretty hard to drive in the winter if you couldn't start the engine at all when it was cold. Of course it is ok to start the car as long as you let it warm up before you shut it off.

1. 2005 are no longer prone to flooding due to updated ECU flashes, however having said that you may still flood if you turn on and then shut off the car if the engine is still cold (completely warmed up means the radiator fan cycled at least once, do not rely on your temp guage). You can wait at least 5 mins for this to happen OR, if you must start the engine and have to shut off right away make sure you blip the throttle past 3000rpm and turn the key off after to clear the gas in the engine.

2. The oil gauge is just a dummy gauge it only tells you whether there is enough oil pressure but not the ACTUAL oil pressure. The needle sits past the middle position. Under no circumstances add ENGINE COOLANT!

3. You may use engine treatment but IMO its just a waste of money. Use your cash to pay for "Top Tiered" premium grade gasoline. Shell and Chevron are some of the gas companies that have passed this certification. Top-tiered gas are mandated to have superior detergent additives to keep engines clean.

4. Read #3. Why save money getting 87 or 89 grade gasoline then pay for an extra engine cleaner later because of varnish and carbon build-up? Just my opinion...
