In a 2006 RX 8 with the single CD Player is the radio ready for Sirius Satellite?

If you hit the sat button and nothing happens, then you're missing equipment. If you have the sat button at all, then you can buy the OEM equipment (two pieces if I remember right. Like $350 total). Or you can buy any of the aftermarket sat radio units, have the power and signal wires (via fm modulator) hardwired into your 8. Sound will be crystal clear (err as clear at sat radio gives you lol) and cost you $50-$250 depending on which unit you choose.

I also have an 06 RX 8 with a single CD Player. I have the SAT button but nothing happens when it is pressed. My question is could I install a satellite radio tuner kit like on the link below and be able to control the satellite radio through my HU

No. That module is specifically for aftermarket head units (sony, pioneer, kenwood, alpine, etc). You must either buy the factory Mazda sat radio tuners and install them yourself, or buy an outboard sat radio device and use the FMDA25 to get the audio over to your factory head unit.

The OEM Sat Radio kits (two parts) from Mazda for Series 1 RX8s (2004-2008) are NO LONGER AVAILABLE from anyone, Mazda or any retailer. I know, I have tried for months to find the parts for my 2008 40th Anniversary Edition RX8. OEM kits are available for Series 2 RX8s. but no longer for Series 1. If you have a series 1 RX8 and you want sat radio you are going to have to start fresh with a non OEM sat radio unit.

I saw that, just passing it on for any Series 1 owners that currently those sat radio oem parts are no longer available anywhere. They may have still been available three years ago, but no longer. I wish I had ordered them long ago for my 2008 RX8, but after riding in my friends car with sat radio, I fell in love with the choices of oldies and different genres of music and decided to upgrade my RX8 audio system, but will have to go another route.

Cheers
