I am just a real pain in the butt to deal with I guess. I expect the same type of work done for me that I would do for them. So I need to fix a super small chip in the paint that a person would be hard pressed to see. In a vehicle with tinted windows, it would be that much harder to see. Then again though, I like things as perfect as possible and with a dash bezel being custom fabricated and painted silver.... it's the little things that keep me awake at night. The painter is a friend of mine.... I need to keep him as a friend although he will never do something like this again he says... until next time. Pics coming soon guys (only of the dash panels though).

im ready to see everything installed
The trunk piece is actually 3 separate pieces put together.Even though it's 3 separate pieces, it's still a pian getting it in.Certain pieces have to go in a certain order to get them barely in without touching.Same thing goes when taking them out. Its been a long time so I pretty much use to wait by now. I'm getting my MS kit(Urethane) installed within this coming week & by next week then I'll bring it back to the shop to install the alarm, underbody neon kit, & system. Until then I wont be satified.

Well, it's a pain in a butt & a long story. The bodyshop screwed up on the paint job & even though it's not really noticeable, you can feel that it's not smooth through out the paint due to poor preping & some pieces were a little messed up on the edges. My installer deals with the bodyshop directly so he didn't accept the work & sent it back. The bodyshop said it only needs a little wet sanding but that's not the case some pieces needed to be re=preped & painted again & the shop disagrees on that part.My installer knows bodywork(worked in bodyshop before) & knows what he's talking about, the shop is trying to skip steps to fix the problem. The shop is complaining that it'll cost more to fix & paint everything again. The deal previously was take your time on painting all the parts but it has to be perfect! Now the bodyshop is complaining that $1200 is not enough & all of a sudden wnts more. That's bullsh*t so there's a dispute between my installer & the bodyshop. Finally, the installer decided to f**k the bodyshop they had been dealing with, took back all the parts & gave it to another bodyshop. Not only did the previous bodyshop wasted our time but their reputation also. Everything will be sanded down & painted again. I just gave them the color codes this past friday so hopefully if all goes well, it'll get painted by this Friday. This has been a frustrating experience but it's kinda out of my hands right now. I know that is not my installer's fault for the delay because they do want to finish the car & collect my other half of the total bill.

Hey, what's the place that made the fiberglass pieces? I want that LCD mount, for sure, and live in the city.

Go to MotorMusic at Daily City. It's like a block away from Jefferson High School. Talk to Peter, head installer & also manager, that Wayne with the MidnightBlue RX-8 sent you & he'll work out a deal for you. Their number is 1-650-994-4300.

Good luck on your install .One thing you might look into asking your installer might be ventilation of the equipment (like amps) because I know it gets really hot down at Texas. I'm having my fingers crossed this time. I just hope it turns out good & not have to wait a long time.

Close to my install, but a lot more impractical....especially concerning your trunk...but like you said, you did yours for show....I did mine for practicality and long trips.

You can check out some pics of my car at:
http://rx8.mine.nu

you can also search the forum for threads started by me!

Good luck with the rest of your install, I know what a pain having the paintjob screwed up can be. My center counsel had to be done 4 or 5 times....it was rediculous. The final time, the installer just came to the conclusion, if he wanted it done right, he should do it himself. Its sad to see high end body shops not caring about painting parts like this...and that goes for 2 body shops we went through for my parts. :o

Yea, you're totally correct, I had my install done with sound quality & aesthetics in mind only without paying any attention to save room or weight. I also dont intend on using the small trunk for anything anyway so that's why I did what I did.It is a pain to deal with bodyshops because they dont really put effort on getting parts like these done on time because they dont make as much money on it as knocking out paint jobs for a whole car.Like you, I also had the pain of using two different bodyshops but at least the second time was alot better experience with the first one & also everything finally start to come together.

Just got my car back tonight, unfortunately the f**king bodyshop lagged again so the door panels is not done getting re-painted so I still dont have door panels in my car but at least the red pieces are done except the piece holding my Navi/Dvd player needs to get re-done again because it cracked a little near the sides, cant really see but it still has to be fixed. Wells heres some pictures of rear deck, seats holding clarion 7inch lcd monitor and 1/3octave equalizers on each of them, & also glove box holding PS2.

Wow, thats crazy! You should come to one of the bay area meets. I'd love to see that in person. What are you going to do when the PS3 comes out in a few months?

Yea, I've heard that the PS3 is coming out & it looks awesome too. I guess I'll be stuck if it does not fit & buy a PS3 for home but just a maybe that I want to frabricate the PS3 somewhere else in the car or modify the golve compartment again & replace the PS2 with the 3.If I decide to go that route it wont be for a while because I need to save some money for some wheels for my next mod. I've heard you're entering to HID with Hardhitter & Ryan, good luck & rep for RX8's in the bay! Oh yea, I'm down for some bay area meets sometime once it's finally gets done.

Hehe, thanks. Although I did not do any of the dirty work but I did design most of the install myself, about I'd say around 80% of it was my idea. When I first drop off the car, the installer drew up a sketch on what he wanted to do to the car but I decided to go with what I like to do with the car since it's my car, I want it done my way. I talked to the installer for about an hour, drew up a blue print sketch of what I liked to be done & ask him if it could be done & went from there to get the results now. Well, I have a full MS urethane kit that's painted but it's in another bodyshops storage waiting to be picked up by me. I'm just waiting for the whole install to be completed then I'll have the MS kit installed.I also have a street glow underbody gold series kit that'll be installed along with my Clifford G5 advantguard alarm. My next mod that I'm looking forward to getting will be some wheels. I had my eye on some Volk Le37's in gunmetal for a while & maybe have it powdercoated to dark blue to match the paint job but I might be satisfied by gunmetal when I get it in the coming months probably since I need to reload my pockets. After getting some wheels, I'm planning on getting a Cf hood & have it painted. Last of all will be the performence department that I'll be looking at to complete my 8 but hopefull by then I can maybe get a sponsor to help out a little but if not it's no biggie since I've been doing this all out of pocket since day 1.
I was told by my installer that Car Audio & Electronics magazine wants to photo shoot the car after it's fully completed. My installer's previous car made it on the magazine also, that's why I trusted his work & choose him to work on the car. Here's his previous Mustang in caraudio & electronics magazine but he sold it to shop owner as a shop display demo car.

Hehe, yea it does splash into kinda orange when in direct sunlight. It's Rosso Corsa known as Ferrari Red. I picked that red to go with the stock 2 tone black & red theme because it's one of the only good looking red's with out any flakes in them. Well, I kinda like it when it hits sunlight light, you'll see red in one angle & kinda orange in another angle.

It's custom fabricated with some woodwork & fiberglass. To add an after market dvd/navi system, custom work is the only way to go. Just the work for the navi/dvd piece will probably cost around $1000 of labor chage if not more so it's pretty costly to get it done. Look around town for a good shop to do the work! Look at some photos of their previous work & talk to the installers/fabricaters to decide on the shop you want it done at.
