Shock sensor question

Me and my friend just got our rx8's. He got a used 04, and i got a brand new 07.

I read up on the shock sensor DIY and i guess, the test to see if your car has the alarm system thats compatible with the sensor is to lock your car with the keyfob while your inside, and then try to get out. If the alarm goes off, the shock sensor will work.

His worked (04 rx8) and mine did not (07 rx8).

I am guessing that by this, i do not have an alarm on my car. Do i need to install something before the shock sensor will work?

THanks!

The 2007 is a different animal...it has RF keyless technology that can tell if you are in the car. To give it a true test....lock yourself in without your key fob.....
