i havent installed it yet but tomorrow the pics should be up......the stitching is burgundy but looks really light because of the thickness of the thread...it should be close to the interior red but in my opinion is pick thier darkest red and you will get close

 

We do have a deep red that comes out looking more red, and might be a better compliment to the RX-8 red interior.

Another great product by shift style...

awaiting tracking info so I can take pix of my nearly identical ebrake handle to chrism...I got preforated black leather w/white stitching to match my already existing preforated black leather white stitching shift boot. Only differance is I got double stitch vs chris's 4 stitch. But he got the idea from looking at mine...

Cant wait to see it in person tonight at the local ny/nj meet.

 

I must say the boot, and e-brake handle feel absolutely natural to the touch......i am very impressed with the new combo and your quality seems to be getting better and better.....both pieces are very tight and snug fit so it feels very oem....and i think the combo i picked seems much more classy.....any way here are some of my new pics.....enjoy!

 

 

Just got my e-brake cover in the mail. Below are a couple of pics of the cover as received. I only got one strip of velcro, but it's more than enough for the job.

Tamas - to your point about the edges - on mine they are unfinished. To me it's no big deal on the bottom of the cover - you'll never see the edges. But on top - that's a different story. I have an idea I'm going to try during the install to address this - we'll see how it turns out. Will post pics once done....

Yes, the unfinished edges are a problem for me... not sure what to do.

 

There are pros and cons to adding a lip.

Pros = Looks more aesthetically pleasing
Cons = Does not fit as flush

We're going to play around with the design and we'll see what we can come up with.

Hey shift I got your tracking info I wasn't home yesterday to check the mail but today I will. I'll take lots of pix for you. Deff thanks for the speedy shipping you are the best man.

In concern about the unfinished edge for the top maybe just slighty folding it in and maybe glueing it or something or even adding a stitch line across the top could work. I bet if you put a rag over the folded part and use an iron it'll make it as flush and flat as possible making it more clean looking. I am going to see if I experiment w/that idea and will report back my findings....

 

funny $hit I look at a packed for me here at work and it turned out to be my ebrake handle lol it is VERY NICE. I will try to take some pix either tonight or tomorrow and post them up.

OK I installed mine I didn't attempt to do anything w/he unfinished edges but I think it looks pretty dam good. Judge for yourself. Lots of differant angles to try to capture the ebrake handle as much as possible.

Looks good, klepto.... looks like the install went OK. I installed mine today too and it looks like you got it on there good and tight - I had to work with mine a bit to get it on there "just right"... but I modified it so it could use a little more massaging for a better fit.

Yours goes well with the shift boot too - now all you need is the armrest covers...

I decided to roll the top edge and see how that looked. Used scissors and glue. Came out with somewhat mixed results. Pics are in the camera, but download cable is at the office - I'll post them up tomorrow....

 

deff post pix. What I had thought of doing was folding in the edge a lil and useing some glue and an iron to make it nice n flat but I dont think I have a need to it fit perfectly from my point of view absolutely love it.

I deff want to get the arm rest covers fromt (although I have the zeta arm rest pad) so Im hoping shiftstyle decides to make a few for the owners of the zeta arm rest cover and I deff want to get one for the rear.....YOU LISTENING SHIFTSTYLE? lol.

I gotta give shiftstyle props on nice pieces at reasonable prices....

I am trying to gather interest -- THIS IS AN INTEREST post in having shiftstyle design arm rest covers for us Zeta Arm Rest Cover owners...

Alright, so I decided to mod my ebrake cover before installation to try and give the top edge a more "finished" appearance. I did this by rolling the edges over ever so slightly, then gluing them in place.

In order to do this, you have to "notch" or cut the leather - just a tiny amount - so the top edge will roll over between the seam/stitch points between front and back, on either side. I also cut inside flap of the cover back at 45-degree angles to give the rolled edge some "clearance" - see pic.



I worked the leather in my hands for about a half hour while watching TV, rolling the edges over and pressing down repeatedly to "train" the leather and create the new edge. To keep the new edge in place I used a small amount of contact cement and rolled the edges over one last time and pressed it all down tight.



Give the glue a little time to set up, then install the cover. Here's a shot of the velcro Shiftstyle supplies installed on underside of the ebrake handle...

My mistake in doing this mod was in making my cuts a little too far into the cover, so that when I pulled it tight around the ebrake handle, the cuts pulled apart a little, becoming visible - at least to me. From 5 feet away, you never see them, but I know their there, so I notice it....

Look to the rear of the top edge in this pic and you'll see what I mean....



Shiftstyle - any chance you could supply the cover with that top edge already rolled over? Or, like Tamas mentioned earlier... maybe supply the cover with a little "extra" flap at the top so a customer could roll it over and glue it down like I did, but without having to make any cuts in the leather?

In any case, I like the look - completes my Shiftstyle leather trim-out (shift boot, ebrake and console covers), and it gives the ebrake handle a nice, thick leather feel now. Thanks, ShiftStyle!!

Yeah, all my Shiftstyle stuff is black leather/black stitching... wanted it all to have the same look/feel as the stock steering wheel and shift **** for an integrated look.

"Hidden stitching" ... ??
