How many seams does your shift boot have? And what year and trim is your car.

I have an 04 GT and they replaced the shift boot after they soaked the original with stanky tranny oil. Anyway, I was sure that my original boot had 4 seams. The replacement has 3 and it tends to get bound up on itself and the folds are in all the wrong places at exactly the wrong time.

I'd like some ammunition to show the deal what others have so he'll give me my 4-seamer back, so pictures will also be a big help.

Definitely 4 seams. Mine's an '04 Sport, but they are all the same. I recently drove an '09 and the boot is the same. Here's a pic of my old OEM boot (you should upgrade to a nice leather one):

Why don't you ask him to take a walk with you out to one of the new one on the lot?

 

This pic off the mazda website shows that the 09s have a 3 seam boot. And they have replaced it 3 times with the 3 seamer. I'll need hard evidence to get them to find me a 4 seamer. So thanks for the pics, I appreciate it.
