Alright, I'm going to be installing a system into my 8 pretty soon, and I'm trying to figure out where to run my wires. I am just adding subs and amp and I already have a Eclipse AVN5435 so I will not need to tap into the Bose amp... or do I? For those who have installed their amp kit, where about did you run your wires? Where did you ground? Is there a hole in the firewall already in order to run the power wire to the battery etc etc. Any help or pictures would be great.

Also, for sound deadening the trunk, about how many SQ feet of deadening do I need for the whole trunk. Thanks.

run your power wire through the hole where the hood release cable goes through. From the hood release handle run your hand behind and towards the firewall to see where it goes. Mine went through without problem.

My BassLink is grounded on a chassis screw located on the left side of the trunk under/behind the plastic trimming.

Depending on the size of the system you are installing, read the grounding sticky at the top of the forum. For wire runs of any decent guage, remove the windshield washer resevoir, peel back the insulation and there will be a large flat area with a indent to it to run all the wires through the firewall one can ever hope for. I ran two 0 gauge lines through this area. For deadening, use a crapload of it back there. Too much is better than not enough. I recommend Brown Bread. It comes in 35sq ft and 70 sq ft shop rolls.

I havent had time to do the whole car but what I did was the trunk lid and the rear lights (crapload of vibration that you could hear) and I did the back panel(loudest vibration within the car for me) both the metal and the panel pieces(left opening for the speakers) and this helped vibration wise alot and sounded better too. I am waiting for it to cool down so I can do the rest of the car. To get the back panel there is a DIY..its actually not too bad...just a little cramped(ok very cramped if you are not a small person)..when I did the back panels I actually drove over to a car wash so I could do it in the shade and I left the back seats at home...never realized how much noise came through back there.

There is a deadening that is a paint on type. It comes in 1-2-3-4 gallon paint cans and you just use a brush and apply layers on. A lot of people have used this and I have bought their subs before and it's a well trusted "underground" company. Elemental Designs is the company. In my blazer I had two 15's from them and they were absolutly great speakers for $275 shipped. I talk to the owner (Ben) all the time and it's a great company. www.elementaldesigns.com is their website, check them out. I'm going to get 4 9Kv2's and a Nine.1 amp from them for now, then will get their Nine.2 and eDi6500 speakers. Great components.

I drilled a hole between the clutch and hood release wire, Ran 4 gauge all the way back, grounded to a drilled chassis hole in the sheet metal under the left trunk panel.
