What is the best way to route power wires to the trunk for an amp? I have searched the forum but have come up empty handed.

 

If you remove the rear driver side seat and the driver side plastic floor plate near the doors you can run the power wires all the way through the firewall without them being visiable. Took me about 30 minutes to run the wiring when I installed my Basslink setup. Sorry, but no pics...

 

How many feet of wire did you need?

 

I ended up running 20 feet of 8 guage power cable from the trunk to the battery just so I had enough. I ended up cutting about 2 ft off each end. If you go to Circuit City and buy their amp instal kit (which I did) it has all you need. That amp install kit also has a 60amp fuse with it that is highly recommended you connect as close to the battery as possible. I ended up placing it about 8inches from the battery terminal. That way if the power cable ever deteriorates (sp?) the fuse will blow well before the break in the wire and stop any possiblility of a fire in your car. That install kit cost like $45 or so.

 

Are you saying you went through the firewall on the driver's side? Where did you go through? There was a thread about where to drill through on the passenger side, behind the AC unit under the dash, and I wasn't looking foward to having to do that.

So I started on the install last night and plan on finishing today. Wheers what I did. I removed the washer bottle and drilled a hole where the wire harness would pass through the firewall on the Euro models. I also used drilled holes through the battery box and used rubber grommets and split loom to protect the wire. I'm about half way done.

 

Rotary, that is what we did with my RX-8 as well.

Thats exactly how I ran the wire. Worked out well and looks very professional.
