RX8 Homelink Rear View Mirror Question

I've got an EVO and the rear view mirror is very plain. I'm considering buying an RX8 rear view mirror and putting it in the EVO so I can get auto-dimming and homelink features. My question is this: Is the RX8 mirror a stand alone unit? It doesn't have a box elsewhere for the homelink feature does it?

all contained in the mirror .... question is, why bother buying an rx8 one when you can find a solid Gentex one on ebay?

I must confess I'm a cheapskate. My plan is to get a used one from this shop that I've been buying parts from. Last I heard, they'd let me have one for around $40 since I've been pretty loyal to them when needing any import parts. The one's I see on ebay go for $75 or more used and well over $100 if new.

I really appreciate your answer though and this makes me more confident about the fix. I'll probably be doing this soon as the other "cheap" thing on the evo is the stupid sunvisors. I'm afraid when I remove my garage door opener from it there may be a permanent indentation left on the sunvisor.

Gotcha, well thats understood. And dont worry, some of the older 8 owners ran into some issues with cheap sun visors too

Yeah, my visors had to be replaced under warranty 4 times before they found the right superglue.
