KY RX8 Car Audio for Dummies needed

I have an amp and two 10" subs i wish to install. I need easy instructions w/ pictures. I have seen post on here showing where to run the power wire and how to run a remote wire off of the 12v accessory plug. I however have not seen a thread showing how to pull the head unit. I also need to know if the Bose head unit has rca jacks for the amp to hook into and if not, then I would need pictures and instructions on how to hook up the amp to the head unit. Thank you in advance for your help.

You do NOT need to pull the headunit. The stock headunit does not have RCA jacks (only seen one OEM headunit in my life that did). The speaker outputs from the headunit run to the rear of the car and into the Bose amplifier. That's where you can tap into them.

You'll need a simple and cheap line output converter. They are available at ANY place that sells car audio. Best Buy, Walmart, Frys, local mom and pop, etc. The line output converter converts speaker level inputs into an RCA connection. The rest of the install should be pretty obvious provided you're positive you know how to connect your subwoofers to the amp.

I don't have any pictures for you, but it's pretty easy. You'll be tapping the LOC right off the rear speakers.

When tapping the rear speakers, use these colors:
Left Rear - is Purple
Left Rear + is Pink
Right Rear + is Black/Blue
Right Rear - is White/blue

The LOC will have both left and right and both + and -. Match them up and hook your amp up to the RCA outputs.

They're all the same for the most part. Most places do sell 2-channel versus 4-channel. The 2-channel will do fine for subwoofer use. (The 4-channel will work too if that's all they have. But they're usually a few bucks more)

Also, most are now a days, but make sure it's adjustable. Should just have a simple potentiometer you can turn with a small screwdriver to adjust output.

No problem.
I think this is what Best Buy sells

Should be like 20 bucks.

This is what Walmart carried last I checked

I've used them a couple times without issues... but I'm a little leery of the Scosche name. Haven't had the best of luck with them.

Hey guys, just got an rx8 with the Bose stock 9 speaker system and contemplating installing a 12", or 2 10" subs with seperate amp.
the questions i have are... where would my Bose amp be located and also would i need to change the signal at all to a lower frequency?? using some sort of converter?
and should i tap into the wires before they reach the Bose amp. or after when the wire head towards the two 9" rear speakers?

i know its an old thread but any info would be great

Bose amp is located in the trunk of the car (between the rear speakers).

Read the "sticky" thread that firebirdude was kind enough to spell out. It should answer all your questions

What's to understand? You have the stock colors. So match left negative with left negative on your LOC. Do the rest the same way.

It comes with an instruction manual man.

http://www.scosche.com/ecom/download/SLC-4_SglPg.pdf
Page 4. You don't need to connect all of those if you're just installing subwoofers. Just connect A5-A8 in the picture. Just as it says. They're clearly labeled "left rear +" for example... so that would go to the pink wire. And you can tap right at the rear speakers if you feel the harness is too scary. lol And check out this thread regarding splicing. As for all the adjustment *****, I'd crank them all the way up, then back off a 1/4 turn (should give you about ~2volts). From there, run the RCAs from the rear RCA output to your amp and set the gain on your amp appropriately. Don't know what else I can do for you other than just getting in there and doing it myself.

Bah. No worries. We were all new at some point. Be sure to check out the FAQ thread at the top of the stereo forum.

The remote wire is what tells the amp to turn on. Yes you need it. Every amp needs it. Without an aftermarket headunit, you'll need to use an ignition source.
