RX8 airbag removal

Hi guys,
Has anyone removed a side airbag from the cover of a seat? I am installing RX8 seats in a earlier RX and have no need for them, they wont work anyway, and it would be a good weight saver. I want to know if its safe to just remove the guts and just have the cover.
Heres a pic, any help is greatly appreciated

You'll be ok. When removing airbags, you should avoid pointing the explosive end towards you. Remember that if the plug sees voltage, it will go off.

What will you do with them? They might be worth something on Ebay/here, but I always wanted to set one off upside-down with a car battery from 100' away.

If you do, make sure you get video and post on the board!

Jeez man - sell that thing. Airbags are crazy expensive to replace.
