Cool Replacing Bose Audio

Hey Peeps,

Im in the process of ordering some new speakers/subs/amps for my car and I was thinking about the Tweeter for the front;
Does anyone know where I can get some blank Sailpods? (If thats what its called lol)..

Id prefer to remove the stamped in Bose logo when I install the new tweeters and then I wont have to worry about trying to figure out how to mount a smaller tweeter inside the 2" hole..

This is what Im thinking so far for my setup..

So far I purchased:

2 x Alpine SWR-1222D - 12"
1 x Alpine PDX-1.1000 - Monoblock Amp
Custom Trunk Enclosure - Sealed

Debating what I should do for speakers..
1 Set Alpine SPR-17S - 6.5 Components for Front..
• Woofer Mounting Depth (in): 2-5/16'' --- Should fit since The Speaker depth thread says 3" is safe.. Correct? (I realize I'll need an Adapter to install it)..

Any suggestions for the Rear speakers? I had some nice Rockford 6x9s in my previous car before the the Lows were incredible.. Should I go Components in the Rear or 6x9's? Need Suggestions.

I read that there are 2 tweeters in the Rear. Can anyone confirm this? My rear speakers sound terrible so Im guessing they are cheap 6x9s lol.. (Everything is stock in my car atm)..

I have a 2009 R3..

Thanks for the input.

=)

For the tweeter mounting location in the front, I just removed the tweeter and trimmed away the mesh screen and put my new tweeter in there, but the Bose logo is still there, which doesn't bother me.

Rear speakers, well there is obviously plenty of mounting depth, but you have VERY little room between the speaker and the cover (at least in the 04-08's) so the speaker you choose needs to have a very shallow tweeter (if you have a 2, 3, or 4-way 6x9). I had the Infinity Reference 3-way 6x9's and the tweeter was too large and my covers wouldn't snap down all the way, so I swapped them out for the Kappa 6x9's and they have a shallower tweeter so my panels actually fit now.

Yes there are two tweeters in the back with the Bose systems (I am assuming the 09's have a similar audio setup as the earlier models).

Look at the Stickies in this Audio forum and you should find all sorts of useful information. I would imagine most of that information should apply to the 2009 models also.
