Replaceing the Bose Systems

I got my 8 with the 9 speaker bose system 6 disc changer. My last car had a 10" alpine and some eclipse speakers in it. I apprecaite that bose midrange sound good but I need more sound (highs and lows). Has anyone completly replaced the bose system yet. I have seen tweeter and rear deck mods and even heard of splicing an amp and sub on the rear amp. What I really want to do is replace everything except for the headunit and amp. Any suggestions?
