I have been unable to use the remote for my 04 to unlock or lock the vehicle. I've replaced the battery a few times to make sure that wasn't the issue but no luck so far..any ideas or suggestions?

I also checked the fuse box diagram but found nothing as far as a remote...is there a fuse for this?

You should do some more reading before asking a question that has been asked many times in the last 10 years. Have you read the new owners thread? It mentions different ways of searching the forum. Here's my favourite

Knew that this would arise, go forum search "remote not working" and filter the search anyway you'd like. Look at what comes up, a load of threads totally irrelevant to what I'm looking for. I've had the car since 08 so I'm pretty aware of how it functions. Good thing I had your input though...phew

If you still have the OEM '04 FOB keychain and allowed the battery to drain, that was the reason it stopped working. It was common for '04 owners like us for that to happen on the keychain FOB; ran out of battery - replaced with a fresh one - FOB fails to work.

You have three choices:

1. Take it to the closest MAZDA dealer and fork-out $150+ to reprogram the system for you. I spoke to my dealer and they would have to use the M-MDS(Mazda Modular Diagnostic System) to enable the system again.

2. Search: "Switchblade key on my 04". Read up and post in that pre-existing thread instead.

3. Just deal with manually opening/closing your locks.

Did you even open the link I posted? Try changing key words there.
Good thing you've had your car since 08 and know how it functions. If you could just learn to figure out typing on the internet, now that would be impressive...
