Rear Seat Elimination

Searched for previous topics on this but came up empty.

Has anyone pulled the rear seats permanently and fabbed a cargo area? It could have a fold up area for storage in the passenger foot wells and to allow access to the fuel pump. Would shoot the value of the car to crap but make it more practical as a two seater IMHO, and if it was wll done would look good as well as make installation of stereos, roll cages, etc. easier; also should remove some weight if I don't get accessory happy. As far as I'm concerned, the rear seats in the 8 with those suicide doors are about as useful as the passenger seat on a sportbike, and you don't even get to see your GF's thong

why would you put your GF in the back seat?

if you're getting rid of the rear seats then the front seats will most likely be all the way back, unless you're some little dude with a napolean complex.. which would explain this thread. With the seats all the way back there isnt a footwell to use

The suicide doors are very useful to get into the back of the car, not sure what you are talking about

How does removing 2 seats from a car make it "more practical" as a two seater?

It's your car, so do what makes you happy.

The topic was somewhat discussed in the below thread.

Best answer...the rear seats don't take up much room, weigh nada...and deaden the sound a lot

Try driving around with them out for a while and you will see what I mean

Oh, come on Laythor, you're not that dense.
The time quote on your post is 12:29pm, making it 9:29pm in CA, so I'll just assume you were starting to get into the groove of the evening :

1) I never said I was going to put my GF in the back seat; indeed not only would I not do that unless I was going back with her, but you don't get to see this when she gets in and out:

or, maybe this (more likely here than in FL or CA):

2) The Napoleon thing - sorry, you'll have to explain this one more, I can't see where you got that out of my post.

3) Suicide doors - work well until you pull up close to a car, a garage wall, or any other large immovable object. Now open both doors; getting out of the car will now require a carefully balanced ballet of who gets out when, which door is closed first, and, if you you have a fat-assed GF like you do (I really don't know your GF or if you have one, and my apologies to her if you do, but you had that one coming), you're likely to scratch your door sills with your Confederate Flag belt buckle.

4) Practicality: I got the idea from an RX7 the owner had converted to an autocrosser. No back seats and he had fabbed up a cargo area that was pretty sharp and made it easy to get stuff in and out of; even had a net that went over the cargo so when he hit boost it didnt all roll back to the rear of the car.

5) So after its all said and done, you've contributed nothing useful, making you in this case, useless. WTF, man?

Think that's gonna be the issue................noise.
Would be okay of course if this was just a track car, but for everyday or even driving around town occasionally, think you'll have to do some serious sound deadening.
