Possibly a Rattle Solution!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Everyone,
Consider this possible cause and path to a resolution to a rattle that appears to be emanating from the back window, but is possibly originating from the sunroof area, specifically around the ceiling dome light/switch region.
I noticed over the last few years, the rattle occurred during extreme temperature days (Cold & hot). AS the rattled occurred, I noticed during the last year by closing and opened the sun-roof visor, the rattle change or stopped.
When I press on the ceiling at the light switch area near the sun roof, the tapping disappears.
Once upon a time, I had this problem in a 70s model that ware resolved after I removed the dome light and stuffed foam in the area between the light/ceiling cover and roof.
Keep in mind this could just be a new rattle overcoming the rear window rattle…

Thread revival. I pickeed up my 05 Shinka on friday, and have the notorious rear window/shelf rattle that is constant, and VERY tormenting. I intend to take it to the dealer and have them listen during the test drive and suggest that they replace the rear windshield seal as others have had success with. There is nothing more annoying than a constant and relatively loud rattle--especially in a "new-to-me" car.

Do you have a sunroof? If so, does the rattle only occur when the sunroof is tilted? If the answer is yes to both of these questions, there is warranty fix wich involves replacing the sunroof side rails. I thought my rattle came from the rear window or parcel shelf, but it was in fact the sunroof!
Hope this helps.

its annoying
i had the same problem with rattle noice of glass=metal knocking at the passenger side of the door too. No i do not have a sunroof.
some shop checked and say the noice is coming from the sit belt. i don't believe so.
i opened up all the trim and could solve this too.
if anyone could help on this it would be marvelous.

I've got this rear passenger side rattle now as well (actually, for awhile). My suicide door window seems to seal well, but does it need more foam sealant? It does sound like a glass stress-induced rattle. It really does drive me a little crazy. TIA
