Hi all. Currently getting my RX8 ready for trackdays so am trying to save weight. I have found that if you remove the audio system/radio the heater controls then don't work. Anyone come across a fix for this? Tried earthing the circuit board but to no avail

Answer. Install the Metra kit, but just don't install a headunit.

Secondly, if you're going so far as to remove every extra ounce of weight (which you certainly appear to be), why care if the heater works?? Gut the entire center console and ventilation system.

 

I see you're in the UK, does your RX8 have automatic (digital) climate controls? You actually may want to contact Metra and see if their kit will work with those.
