Powering an after market/replacement nav screen

I've seen a few threads on the here about replacing your standard Nav screen. I plan to do the same with a Lilliput 619GL screen I've just got for a Car PC installation.

My question is though, where do you take the power for the replacement screen from (i.e which wires do you have to tap into)?

Thanks

Closest one is the front cigarette lighter.

Thanks, so if I tap into this and find a good ground I should be ok? Would it not be better to tap into the existing nav screen power lines, or does it not really matter?

Another potential issue I've found is that when the power to the Lilliput screen is turned on, you have to then press the on button to get the screen to work. Once it's embedded into the stock nav housing, the buttons won't be available so as a workaround I've found that making sure the power button is always closed (i.e soldering a wire across it) will make it turn on as soon as power is applied.

Does anyone know a better method of doing this?

Thanks

there is a software menu that you can access that will turn the LCD on whenever there is power sent through...

i did that but I also de-soldered the IR receiver from the Lilliput button PCB and extended a wire to the OEM IR Reciever location.. this way I can use the remote should I need too.

Thanks for the reply. In the end I just soldered across the power button. It works fine like this, as soon as power is applied the screen turns on into VGA mode.

I have also done the same thing as you with the IR reciever and it works really well.
