sounds like somebody used the wrong wire when they did your gauge install...

you could do 1 of 2 things

1-You should remove everything and hook them up one at a time untill it starts honking.

I would imagine you have a couple of crossed wires somewhere else too because it obviously wasn't honking when the battery went dead.. it was something else..

go over everything you did and check EVERY WIRE!

yeah it's a pain in the *** but if they did it right the first time you wouldn't have this problem

2 - take it back to whoever installed it and tell them to fix it

theres not a real big problem but the fix for your horn going off is 1.your battery is dead
2.the hood is open(part of the alarm from factory)
3.as soon as you try to jump it everything comes alive!!
4.take your remote and cut off the alarm or lock mode and do this with the battery charger on.
5.or disconnect the battery..charge it fully and follow the steps.
i don't have a answer for the dead battery but some not all rx8 owner's have this happen when the car sits for a few days of not driving it.to prevent this just disconnect your battery if your going to be gone for more than five or so days or you can connect a trichle charger to your battery when your gone (most of these have fuses and some kind of protection against fire..no worrys!
