For those shopping for a detector:
I just got a new radar detector and spent days figuring out which one to buy. I ended up with a BEL Vector 995. I was deciding between the Escort 8500 x50 and the BEL RX 65. Then I discovered the newest family member the 995. I called BEL 3 times and spoke to a salesman, a techician and service guy. All of them told me that the Vector 995 was identical to the RX 65 except that it did not have the "threat" circuit activated (distinguishes type of multiple signals at one time) I asked the tech guy what that meant and he said that either unit alerts you but the threat circuit just tells you what type of signal (up to 3) from multiple directions. So, in case you are shopping and have already looked at the websites that rate them right now the #1 rated is Escort 8500 x50 and BEL RX65 - primarily due to range and POP detection.Both have identical; performance but the 8500 comes in blue or red led and the BEL has voice alert. The 995 is, as I said, like the RX 65 as per the company - same antenna, same false alarm circuitry.
For hard wiring:
Where is the best location to wire this. One thread is showing a visor mount. Any ideas?
