I was thinking about fiberglass an A pillar pod for the 8. I made a pod similar to PTP's gauge pod for the center dash and it turned out pretty good. If enough people are interested I'll definitly make a few A pillar pods.

Well the only problem with making one is I would make it from a stock a pillar so it is integrated and not just fastened on top. To do that I would need the A-pillar. I'll have to see how much one costs from the dealer or a junk yard.

The only RX8 A pillar gauge pod is made by carbontrix and although is made of carbon fiber and designed to fit perfectly is expensive at $239.

I decided I'm going to go ahead and make an a-pillar pod, should be much easier than the center pod. I want to get some opinions though of what people would want. There are 3 features I want input on and my thoughts on it, please provide yours.

1. Would you prefer it mounted low on the A-pillar or midpoint?
I would say about 1/4 of the way up.
2. Would you prefer it angled straight back like most A-pillar pods or angled toward the driver?
I think I would prefer it angled toward the driver.
3. What finish would you prefer.
I think flat black with texture to match the dash would look good.
4. How many pods do you want?
I would say 1 or two.

I think you got it right >

I would say about 1/4 of the way up.

Angled toward the driver.

Flat black with texture to match the dash would look good.

I need a 3 gauge pod if possible!

One other question, would people prefer it to extend all the way to the top of the a-pillar like some do, or just flush into the original a pillar?
I would prefer it just to flush into the original A-pillar.

I think down low in line with the other guages and just a single tilted slightly towards the driver. i also think flat black for the pod part and a matching grey where it attaches to the pillar. I think flush in with the pillar would look best

Okay, I'm going to FG in my turbo timer into my ash tray this weekend. Next weekend I'll do the A pillar pods. I need an opinion though. I'm stuck on how to finish it. The stock A pillar is a whitish color. I'm not sure what to do with that. Since the pod will be flushed in with the a-pillar there won't be a defined line to change colors at. So it would look stupid I think if the pod was black and A pillar was white. So I could paint the whole A pillar black, or paint the pod white. Not sure that either would look all that hot. So what finish do you guys think would look good?
