PICS of padded arm rest console ;) $0.05 fix!

Padded cover has the ribbed sill sealer material, found at any building supply or visit a new house construction site because they throw out tons of this stuff after framing the walls to the foundation.

The padding foam can be cut to within a half inch of the underside plastic cover, slide it in by leaving the cover's front edge(latch side) attached.

Just swung by Lowes, didn't make the purchase because I don't need 50' of the stuff, which was all they had. Looks like I may be hitting up some construction sites. I hope to get this done within the next couple days though.

I'd think any Home Depot will let you take a 10" piece off a roll and tell them you want to see if if the width at home will be right for your" HOME project"

TIP: If you don't want any sign of the padding to show from beneath, as in a step-off edge, then I'd cut the foam to go within a 1/4" of the front latch side edge and trim the sides of the padding to be an inch from the edges. This will allow for the stretched fabric over it and shouldn't leave any sign of the padding's edge.
Also, be sure the RIBBED side of the foam is facing down against the oem plastic backing piece.
I wonder if all model years have the same attachment design for this cover?

I haven't done the rear console because I have no clue how to remove that cover yet..suggestions on that welcome

Yes, if you remove the OEM cover on only_ the sides and back, then you can still slide in the piece of the white styrofoam type sill sealer material. Place the ribbed side of the foam face down against the cover's base plate, this way the smooth side of the foam pading will be against the underside of the OEM vinyl cover. Think of it as sliding your hand into a glove, your hand is the foam piece you cut to fit with rounded edges on all corners.

Did you find that using a smaller or larger foam piece, going to the edges of the cover's undercover plastic plate made any difference ?

I don't like to lay my arm on the arm rest, I have the tan leather interior and the dirt it's very noticeable. Otherwise I would do it.

When I drive back from running or cycling I'm quite sweaty and dust accumulation occurs from the dirt trails, so I rather just keep my right arm on the steering wheel or shifter.

Hey - Think I might do this. But I have a problem where the latch on the front of the armrest has broken. Any idea where to get a fix or replacement (other than the dealer)??

Why not just buy the Zeta Products arm cushion? It's helluva lot better than what OP did. It also raised the arm rest by half an inch.

Zeta Products arm cushion. There was a very big hype back in 06 about it where a bunch of us did a group buy on. I was one of the lucky few who got one though I did not participate in the the group buy.

Yup. Use the sill sealer material or something that won't absorb moisture. It shouldn't be more than a 1/8" thick so the oem cover can stretch over it. Keep the edge of the padding back a good 1/2" or more from the latch side so it doesn't force the oem cover to pull away from the glued down edging.

Third for this product. You can pick it up off ebay anytime you want for about 30 bucks. I'd call it a must-have if you own this car and drive more than a day weekly.

Arm rest? Either both hands are on the wheel or I'm shifting. Cool mod though, for those who like to steer with one hand.

How's the texture of it? Is it like rubbery? Does it feel like a cheap product i guess..

Trust me, it does not feel cheap or rubbery at all, it's one hell of a quality product.
