Opinions PLEASE...

WELL... im looking @ a system for my car... right know what im looking at is
JL AUDIO:
1- 10W6v2
500/1 mono
300/4
1-pair XR650 components for the front
1-pair TR570 coaxil for the rears
Im keeping the stock headunit.. because i want to use the steering controls.

its a good chunk of change

or should I downsize a little and get the 500/5 to replace the 2 amps... and if i do.. that will the 250W RMS for the 10W6, will that be enough or should i go down to the 10W3, because the W6 RMS is @ 400w. but I like the look of the w6.
If i got the 5channel I wouldent need the TR570 right because its only 25w to the rear speakers and my stock one could handle that. I wouldent mind the downgrade for the saved money. what do u guys think.

or how about an all alpine system. I was thinking all alpine but the guy @ the stereo store talked up JL and said alpine is crap to JL. ??

any opinions?
thanks RUSTY

whoa. ok, the 10w6v2 is pretty awesome. if you are gonna go with the 500/5 though, the sub will be very underpowered, so go with the w3v2. if you do replace the rear speakers, you will need to do 6x9's, not 5x7's.

also, are you going to have the system professionally installed, or do it yourself?

if you are going to do it yourself, i would look at at different brand, as jl only offers a 90 day warranty if you do not have the equipment professionally installed.

do you have the base stereo system, or do you have the bose?

RX8inch,

If you want to get the maximum bang for the buck, I would go with the 10W3V2-D2 and a use e6450 instead of the 500/5. Just bridge channel 5 and 6 into the sub. Currently I have 10w3v2-D4 wired as 2 ohms and playing off only one channel of the e6450 and it still kicks butt.

The e6450 is a shared power amplifier and that is a good thing. When one channel is using less power other chanels can use more. On a heavy bass track, you could get as much as 400 watts bridged mono into a 4 ohm load.

The amp is also selling pretty cheap right now (I got mine for $300). This will give you a lot of bang for the buck.

Hey there.. I have the base stereo... 5x7's fit in the 6x8 hole for the back.. I will be having it professionally installed as i dont want to mess anything up... I was thinking about a 4080 box and then putting the 500/5 in the recess in the trunk and make a plexyglass cover for it so it dosent get scrathed.. I want the 500/5 because it a much better amp vs the E series. even tho the e-series is still a great amp..(your right & I did consider the E) i dont want to run anything @ 2ohms & I like the look of the 500/5 more it looks really beafy.. Ill be running everything @ 4...lastlonger that way... and i would only have 150w for the sub with the E... Yea you right about the 10w3 tho... I think I will be getting a w3 inplace of the w6

didn't...too much weight. :-D

here's my system - you can't see much. I jacked up the brightness so you can see the false-wall which hides a downward-firing box w/ the two 10s. The amp is a Zapco 360.4, sunk-down.

The box and wires and stuff, with all the facades removed:

This is a common problem among users of Dynomat and that of the sort...you don't HAVE to dynomat the entire trunk...how I use to apply it at the shop is target the usual mischevious areas that are prone to rattle...especially where the metal crossmembers underneath the sheetmetal that comprises items like the trunk lid...those are always spot welded and tend to rattle a good bit...also around the posterior of the trunk where the tail light access is...license plate area too...they make different thicknesses that you can use and i recommend you have assorted thicknesses. I know the one area i used DynaPlate in is the well in the trunk..cuts out some road noise from the rear diff and exhaust.

I have all JL in my car (except the deck, which is Alpine), and have nothing but love for it. You can look in my vB garage to see what all I'm running. Not a real "power" system, but plenty enough for me.

ok so I think Ill go with a 4080 box.. is the 1 10w3v2 going to be enough bass for the system since i have the 300/4 JL and 4 XR570-CXI inside??? or should I get a W6.. I allready abought the W3 and it on its way. so i will be using it for now... but how much more bass will i get with a W6 vs a W3?? in the 4080 box

PS... I will be powering the sub with a 500/1 JL
