Question One Touch Down for Passenger Window

Yes, I did search for this topic before posting!

Has anyone converted the driver side switch for the passenger window into a 'one-touch down' switch similar to the driver's side window switch?

I believe the switch works in conjuction with a mechanical switch built into the power window system. Can anyone confirm this?

Thanks!

Ok, this is not exactly cost effective, but...

This is what I had for about a month. I had full one touch down and up on both windows via an aftermarket alarm and DEI window module. HOWEVER, on top of the alarm and window module, you also need to buy an extra passenger window motor for the DRIVER side window. That's because the Auto-down impulse for that window is built into the motor itself (thank Ford for that).

If you replace that motor, standard window modules will work. I had mine wired such that single touches lower the window, but longer than 1/2 second lower it entirely (same for up).

Overall, I didn't like that solution, so I had my old motor put back in and the window module replaced with and Audiovox (which doesn't have that feature).

I was told that you can replace the button in the handrest for the passenger side with a 2-position Auto button like the driver and replace the passenger window motor (and shunt one extra wire) to make it behave the same way. However, they don't have Auto-UP built in and this doesn't seem cost effective, either.

Good luck, whatever you do!

Ok - -Well you are about half right..

You can use the DEI 530T - This Module will do both windows auto up/dn.. They can be used with or w/o an alarm.

I have had these on several past cars/trucks, They work great!!

(havent actually done on in my RX8.. But shouldn't be any different)

Very nice! Looks like the module would be cost effective... it's the install that might get pricey. Not sure I'd want to tackle this one on my own. Gonna need to do some more research.

Thanks for the lead SoundzPlusInc!

SoundzPlusInc - Are you sure about the 530T? I think that was my old window module that didn't work consistently with the driver's window motor.

Is this the new DEI window module? Please let us know. Thanks.

Great info! Can you tell us where we can get such a thing? Perhaps a link or two? Thanks...
