OEM Navigation Hood Retrofit for Carputer Application
#76
I actually originally found this forum when searching for just that I believe - guessing I didn't know the right terms to put in - also looked to see if it was stickied.
Does very easy => I could do it as a DIY job with little experience? Would definately be up for it even if I was stuck manually putting it up and down without the button functionality.....
That said the unit on ebay looks to be just the nav hood.....Could you link me to a thread that shows how?
EDIT - finally tracked down a bit more information on here....and it looks like I'd need to replace the headunit (the Rex I'm buying this weekend is from 2006 but has only done 30k miles)....Big downside for me is no nav hood or heated seats.....Hoping the headunit and havhood install isn't too costly and can be done by one daring man with a screwdriver but not too much experience at this sort of thing!!

Retrofit navigation buttons
hello. I'm trying to retrofit the navigation buttons that are below the gear lever. I have the buttons with me. Can I just cut the area of the panel where the buttons go and insert it? Or do I need a panel with a opening to insert the buttons?
