You know what you want, you know how to do it, what's your problem?

Sounds just like a normal navi question to me....

You can hardwire anything you want. A lot of the newer car electronics run off 5VDC. So hardwire the cig lighter plug in the car, hide it up under the dash somewhere and run the output to whatever you decide on. What's so difficult about this?

Buy a single-din flip out monitor or sell your single-din Metra kit, buy the double-din and a navi double-din headunit. Call it a day. You're making this harder than it should be.
