Navigation DVD Replacement

Does anyone know what the cost is to replace the DVD in our RX8. Mine has a 1/4 inch long crack in the center of the disc and the nav system can't read it.

I dont need a updated DVD., I just want to replace the one supplied with the car when I bought It.

Perhaps this is a warranty claim?

Navigation DVD Replacement

Mikeb, cgrx and Omicron

Thanks for your replys. Well today I went to the parts dept and my local Mazda dealer and asked the guy behind the counter for the Replacement NAV DVD, he leafed thru the pages of a parts catalog, to me this seemed to be taking forever, finally he looked up at me and said, Is this a single or 6 disc DVD. I had to explain again that it was for the Navigation System - the DVD for the Navigation. I guess he didnt know what to do and left. Someone else came to help, must have been his boss anyway he told me that it would cost about $400 and would check on the exact price if I wanted one. I Just about fell down on that one. Told him no couldn't afford it right now.

I went home and to this board and to the replys. Well I never thought about the warranty deal. So I called Mazda customer Service and explained the DVD Disc problem I had to him (Frank).
After a few minutes on hold, he came back and explained that it should be covered under warranty I thanked him. Got in the car and went back to the Local Mazda Dealer, its only about 10 miles away. Back to the counter guy in the parts department. Told him that I called Mazda Customer Service and was told its a warranty item and that they should contact Mazda Warranty Services if they dont know how to handle it. Counter guy said OK I'll check into this and get back with you,.

What a hassle

A hassle, yes, but at least you saved $500! Come to think of it, shouldn't I get a 10% commission on the money you saved? :D
