My system finally killed my battery....
Well it's taken about 3 years, but my system finally killed my stock battery.. It all started about a week ago when i got a really weak start in the morning... and every day this week it acted like it was struggling a bit.. and then I "tested" it by turning off the car and let the headlights and stereo run for about 3 or 4 minutes.. turned the key and got nothing but clicks...
I went out and got a Optima 35 (red top) like I should have done a L O N G time ago.. I was kind of hoping that my capacitor would help not kill the battery as fast.. but I'm not surprised.. i also had to get a little power cable extender too because the power wire wouldn't reach - but it was no biggie...
so word of warning... stock battery is not enough for a 1000 watts RMS subs and another 450 or so for the interiors... for more than a few years that is...

amazed it took that long.. that is when then no systems bats die.. or mine did..
odd that you did not get the yellow top!

beers
Yeah after many seconds of hard consideration I chose the red over the yellow for 3 reasons -
1 Red is cheaper and does about everything except deep cycling, which I don't do
2 I was under the impression I wouldn't need a cable extension, after I got it home I realized that I did anyways - but oh well
3 I couldn't find anywhere close that had a yellowtop D35 in stock...
I still haven't heard a really good reason not to get the red top...

How big is your capacitor? I got a yellow top a couple months back and went about six months on a stock battery with a 1000 watt RMS sub amp and 450 interior as well with no issues before that, but I also have a 15 farad capacitor and don't blast my music all the time either.
Not sure what was ment by the cable extension. My red top 35, minus the net from the factory battery was a perfect fit. That is after I used the extra piece it came with to make the battery sit an inch taller. Not sure if they can void a warranty if they find out you have a system hooked up to it. I mean, how could they prove it and I haven't seen anywhere the same no warranty for a yellow top, which is recommended to use with aftermarket systems. The red in my opinion is better as it has a 3 year warranty versus a 1 year for the yellow.
