my sub install.

my sub install.
JBL 1100watt @ 2 ohm amp
Dayton 10" HO 4 ohm sub
SRQ custom fit box port tuned to 30hz
Audio control lc6i active loc (amp didnt have speaker level inputs)
also walmart soche loc vs audio control loc = huge difference, with the soche i kept haveing certain frequencies just disappear way outside the cut off for the amp and the port freq, as soon as i installed the audio control loc wow it blends in very well and doesnt have that cheap sound anymore. The loc is hidden on the side of the box and i have planed to make a amp cover/false floor.
Srq, worked with me on getting a port tuned box which i think looks great and matches well
the sub is acturaly a home theater sub, it sounds great in the ported box, and it hits hard, lighter then my original that got stolen. only complaint is finding a large enough amp to push over 700watts at 4 ohms without blowing a hole in my pocket. but is designed for tight space, my set up is .7 cu ft big
this was more of a budget install to, spend 200$ on the amp, the box was 110shipped , the sub was 125$ shipped
edit i dont have bose making this a very easy process, speakers upfront are clarion components

Deals on wheels
sounds cool! I'm not sure how well a home theater sub can hold up with car audio subs durability wise, but I guess you will find out. and I think I would have tuned it much higher than 30Hz. but that's a personal preference thing.
good point on the LOC - you really get what you pay for when it comes to major audio components.
- but how does it look? post some pics!

the loc is hidden on the side of the box,
here is a generic image, I have the 12 volt and 12 volt tigger jumped cause i see no point in it needing constant power, i am also only feeding it the rear channel cause i dont have fronts on a amp
as for reliability i think it should be fine, I am not the first to use it in that set up, and the port tune provides almost perfect flat output till 30 hz where it drops off. Its a aluminum cone rubber surround, the only thing i need to make sure i dont start bumping hard on cold days( texas not many of those).
It pounds hard and now sounds good while doing it ^_^.
its not turned very loud due to how i want my music to sound natural and smooth, funny thing with the audio control i have it turn almost all the way down to stop the max light from flashing where as the sosche i had it all the way up to make any sound
