My stereo setup so far

*UPDATED PICS ON POST 12

well i finally got some pics of my stereo setup i have so far. some of you may remember my old thread that i posted some teasers of what i had in mind.

first i started off by installing an OEM iPod adapter several months ago. i mounted the control module under the hump in the center of the dash where the NAV would go and ran the connector plug to my glovebox.

i connected the remote turn on lead to the center outlet. it tapped into the green wire as you can see

ran the remote turn on lead under the seat to the passenger side and fed it through to the trunk. i also ran the 4GA power wire down the passenger side. i decided i would drill a hole in the firewall just behind the washer resevoir.

i tapped into the rear speakers of my non-bose system and attached some pigtails i made from some wire i got a walmart.

then i connected my pigtails to my LOC and ran my signal wires. i used the PAC SNI-35.

i decided to go with the other amp i had, a Kicker ZX750.1

here's some of my almost finished pics of the setup. as you can tell i added some of RotaryRasps trunk LED's.

i decided to mount my capacitor to the back of the Znclosure box i got. it's a Tsunami 2 farad capacitor that is triangle shaped. it faces in the front of the cabin where the pass-through panel goes. it fits perfectly behind the panel with the back tray portion removed.

so far my only plan to finish it off is to build an amp rack to help dress my trunk up a little better. if i'm really crazy , i may decide to go with a corksport kit and get a double din flat panel headunit. thanks for taking the time to read my thread. hopefully this might help some people installing subs in their 8's. let me know what you think of it so far and any suggestions on mounting my amp.

setup looks good man - i love the LEDs in the trunk!

my only suggestions for now is to not use the shitty t-clamp wire taps.. cut the wire and solder and shrink wrap it... trust me.
and hide your wires!! - cut a little slit into the carpet and run the wires under the carpet - it will clean up the look a TON.. if you have a problem with the carpet bulging up put a peice of 1/2 inch plywood under the carpet under the amp (also so you can screw the amp into it) and then run the wires along the edge of that..

and my OTHER suggestion is to replace all the stock speakers ASAP - a good time to do it is when you get your corksport - because then you can use your new HU pre-outs for the signal insteal of tapping in somewhere.. but thats for the future.

Good job though.. I like!

yes, thats where i connected it. all i needed to do was remove the passenger side seat bottom and the ceter console. then i ran the wire under the seat. i think its the best solution since its not very far to run the wire.

i think what i'm gonna do is build a frame around my amp. then i will put a cover on that which will be flush with the trunk. there will still be a hole on top to see the amp. then the wires will just run through the side of the frame from underneath. after that there will only be an inch or so of wires showing and also giving the amp a flush cleaner look.

well some amps have covers that hide the wiring, but this one didn't. if it would have i coulda drilled the holes from the bottom. i also could have made another layer on top that would have framed out the amp more, but then it wouldn't be flush.

i think it looks a lot nicer now the way it is framed. i didn't like how it just sat in the trunk well with the wiring completely exposed.
