I've taken mine in twice to Oaktree mazda in san jose, california. The first time they said they fixed the skipping problem. As soon as I got home the right speakers went out.....They said I had a bad player and replaced it. Secod time I took it in(aweek later) they said I again had a bad cd player and replaced it. Now the darn things skips worse than it ever has....This is a single disc player as well with premium bose sound....Guess i'll try almaden mazda since these guys have made things worse....
ps. the player skips with new cds as well as old....any suggestions would be appreciated.....Markiev

the 6 disc player seems to skip less, maybe you could get that one

I had the single disk cd player and it never skipped. I now have the MP3 player, also no skips. Keep in mind I don't drive on bumpy roads, and have never driven my car on dirt roads... so that may be a factor.

I've had my '8 for about a month and a week now, and I had NO skips with the single-disc player UNTIL yesterday/today. A brand new CD (Jet's "Get Born"), skips on everything. Hit a little reflector in the road, skip. I haven't had a chance to swap it out for any other CDs, and in the first month, I put a lot of different CDs in (new and older) and had no trouble. I'm really hoping this isn't the start of something bad... :P

Same problem here... although, it seems to only skip on one section of road here in MD - not even the worst section of the highway, either. I thought it might be due to cheap CD-R's, but I recently had the same problem with a store-bought cd.

For the record, I've got a single-CD unit and the Bose system.

solution: get the mp3 cd player and burn all your music!

I had this problem with one of my older cd. What did I do? I downloaded the entire album off the internet and burned it onto a new cd! lol It works perfect now. I have the 6 disc-in-dash and no other CDs skip when I go over very rough roads.

Im glad Im not the only one. Mine skips when you close the glove box let alone hit a pothole.

Also, has anyone had any CD-Rs that wont play past #14? Some of mine do and some dont. I thought it was the CD-R but it works fine in all my other players.
