My install is complete--peep the pics.

I've got an Alpine 5 Channel powering 6.5" Infinity Kappa Components in the front and Infinity Reference 3-way 6x9s in the back as well as a Polk/Momo 8" sub. The sound quality is exactly what I wanted--its the best sounding system that I've dealt with in a while. The bass is perfect for hip/hop and rock and slow jams--my installer also put in blue neon to illuminate the floorboard in the front and in the trunk. He mounted the switches for those lights underneath the dash. The amp is also mounted in the custom panel with a .5 farad capacitor mounted underneath the panel. I also have pics of my custom 1/2" thick embroidered lloyd floor mats. I also have the tan stitch leather shift boot.

Thanks--they are the 3-ways. I was hoping the 8" would be enough bass, if it wasn't I was gonna go with a 10--but I am more than happy with the sound. I use to have 1 pioneer IMPP 10" in my Millenia S and that was more bass than what I wanted in this car--so I decided to try out a smaller sub. The sub in the pass through is a nice touch; but I was leary about smash and grab thievery.

lol---it is--I use to have an audiobahn 4 channel but it went kaput on me--the audiobahn actually made the volume much much louder--but the sound quality is better with this Alpine.

Alpine is a good choice, amazing how they make one amp that will do everything nowadays, I can still remember when the built in stuff was lousy and the only way to get decent sound was a seperate crossover etc. nowadays it seems the integrated crossovers etc are as good if not better than the seperate ones etc. I'll be starting on mine soon, I found out yesterday how much everything is going to cost and I'm getting an awesome deal, can't wait to have subs again Hey Digix, you need to come out to the Rxs meetings, It's lonely being the only yellow there every time we go driving/eating/whatever :D

Thanks for all the compliments--Yeah its actually an auto but I like the shift boot much better than the plastic panel on the autos--especially since I could get the tan stiching to match my seats.

sorry if I missed this but did you start with the Bose or standard system? If Bose, how did you integrate the amp etc.? I keep getting mixed signals on what can and cannot be done ot improve the sound of the Bose system. some have simply replaced the rears and added a sub while I have been told locally that neither route is recommended and am pretty confused by it all.

Well I had the standard system--not BOSE. I have BOSE in my Millenia S and I had it in my FD--from my experience with BOSE in those cars, you can add an amp and sub; but to change the head unit and/or speakers the whole thing needs to be rewired. In my Millenia S it needed bass--so I added a crunch amp pushing a Pioneer IMPP 10".

Dre, does the non-Bose audio system have those amplifiers? I'm trying to build a wiring diagram so I can run a PPI 5-channel amp to an MB Quart comp system, some soon-to-be-named rear speakers, and a single JL 10W6. However, there are a bunch of random harnesses going from the radio to God knows where. If anything, I want to remove those stock amps and replace it with the PPI amp I have.

The non-Bose system does not have any external amplifier. All speakers are powered with the head unit's amp.
It's easy to hook up an amp to the base head unit. Get a five channel amp similar to what Dre uses, and you can drive all four corners plus a sub.

Yeah. I must've read the service manual wrong. I remember A/D/S/ had a multichannel amp that hooked up directly into the factory radio since it had terminal inputs from the speakers, or something like that. I wonder if the PPI amp I want has that kind of feature. Are there any multichannel amps that have that feature? A/D/S doesn't make amps anymore.

Do you mean multichannel amps with speaker level inputs? Sure there are.

I was just trying to decide if I wanted to go with the Alpine amp or the Kicker amp, is your sub a DVC? I was looking at the new Infinity perfect VariQ subs and wanted a DVC sub. I guess I should just get to the point haha, can you run the sub channel of your amp at 2 ohms and the rest at 4?
