Unhappy My display went blank!

I was dusting my dash and my display went blank. My towel had some static and shocked the display. The display lights up red, but none of the functions light up. Is this tepmerary or did I break something?

Not that display. It's the center one for the audio and ac stuff.

Weird - maybe there is a fuse you could pull, but I left my book at work.

Static electricity can't generate enough current to blow a fuse.....however it does generate thousands of volts, which will easily destroy a microchip.

This is the first time I've heard of this happening and I'm amazed it did......however I think the display is toast, unfortunately.

To the dealer with you for a warranty repair......

If your warranty has expired, there just happens to be one on eBay for $5 right now

I am going to take it in today. A warning to the rest of you: Make sure your car is off while dusting the dash with a microfiber towel!!!

My dash has also been F'ed up lately. Sometimes it won't light up for 5 mins after i've been driving. Or when it does light up right away, everything is lit up at once or completely scrambled and randomly blinks. The radio and cd controls still work fine, but the dash just doesn't want to cooperate. It's been a good week since i've seen the temp. reading.

Heater Controls and Upper dash display OUT!

So last night after an extensive plasti dip job on my rims and hood. I was cleaning my interior while my key was on the ACC position. It fried something and now the Display above where the stock radio is, and the Heater controls are completly out. The fan speed works and thank god its stuck on defrost so im not screwed in the mornings. I know this is a older thread but only one i could find with any infomation on this subject. Has anyone else encountered this and found a fix for it? I will be ripping apart my deck and dash, to try and find something. Would love some input from someone who has solved this problem already if it is possible to DIY it.

TL:DR - Can I Fix my Heater Control unit and upper display w/o replacing it?

It's the connecting between your head unit and the radio. Remove radio, check four bolts that hold the radio to the head unit. Then, see if the retainers need to be repaired. I usually repair them with PVC glue and that always fixes then.
