My aftermarket headunit on the cupholder!
hey all,
check out my aftermarket headunit installed where the cupholder is! i bought a JDM rx8 in malaysia that came with only AM/FM and since that doesn't work in malaysia too (due to the difference in frequency spectrum), i got these awesome stereo installers to install it where the cupholder is. What you see is the faceplate, the rest of the unit is actually beneath the seat, concealed for security purposes. It is a bit of a drag to switch CDs, but i'm also installing a CD changer so that i don't have to switch CDs so often. the quality of the pics may be a bit blurry cause i snaped it with my camera phone. Check it out...

well, when the time comes, you'd be used to it. i've been driving in canada for 8 years and when i got back to malaysia, it was a little weird driving on the other side, but it's just a matter of getting use to.

now that's a very good question Photic! i did notice that it gets extra hot at the cupholders, that's why it's only the face plate that's there, while the rest of the unit lies under the seat. i'm not sure if the installers insulated the wires where the faceplate's installed, i'm going to double check. what's underneath there that cause so much heat anyway?
