So I called metra regarding some questions with their kits and my 09... heres what i asked and they answered...

If i were to purchase an 08 kit and just use the electronics with my 09, would it work? Not sure. Our engineers are pretty certain, no though. Mazda has been changing everything often, its the way they do things now. Even the CX7 and CX9 aren't compatible. So i cant recommend it.

Is there an 09 kit being produced, if so any idea when i could see it? Cant tell you that, we know we have it there to do, but at the moment i have no answer for that.

So thats about it. I know its not much, i just figured i might save some of you the call. If anyone with an 08 kit knows someone with an 09 and wants to get adventurous and be a hero on the boards, your more then welcome to play mad scientist. Hell, if you're in or near Miami, Fl... i will even offer up my 09.

Other then that, looks like we 09's get to do the same type of waiting you pre-09's did.

Yeah man from the brochure the nav screen in the dash on the 09 looks totally different from the 04-08. It's no longer on top of the dash its all in where the radio was. I'll bet it mounts different in every way, so I imagine that Metra or Corksport will have to come up with an entirely new design and Metra just within the last few months came up with their kit for the 04-08 so I wouldn't hold your breath on the new kit comming out anytime soon...

 

I have no idea about the electronics but my brief look at an 09 showed me that the radio is built into an integrated dash piece. I didn't see anything that you could remove like the face plate on the 04-08, but then again the dealer wasn't going to let me pull the console cover off to find out.

 

Metra will build an '09 kit once they see a demand. Every call they receive will show up on a chart and drive the decision to start development. Vote early and vote often.

 

People still want that for 2009 when it has aux input?
