May be replacing the stock tweeters with Kicker Resolution R22s

I think these might be the answer to all our tweeter prayers. I did a little measuring, and the existing tweeter "cover" (I say that losely cause its a part of the molded plastic, not an sctual cover) has a diameter of 2 3/16" or 2.1875". The diameter for the hole necessary for a flushmount of the kicker resolution r22s is 2.176". So, my thought is to take out the existing tweeter, cut out the "cover" and flushmount the kickers. In a flushmount install, these tweeters can swivel to be positioned whever you want them.

I was thinking of possibly located one of the side covers the existing tweeter sits in for some off the car modification. Anyone else think this might be a good solution?

From my searching - these have an impedence of 4 ohms, compared to the 2 ohm Bose... is this a problem ?

I don't think the bose tweeters are 2 ohms. I am pretty sure they are 4 ohms (which is about 3.XXX ohms when you measure it with a multimeter).

The bigger concern is getting a tweeter that can go down to 2KHz or lower.

On a side note, after listening to the Bose more last night (finally got my car) it definitely has some frequency response issues in the upper range and in the mid range as well. I might be tossing the amp and its processing in the not to distant future.

I am going to be ordering a full wiring diagram and go to town.

Here's a link to the speakers. I found them for about half this price, but crutchfield always has the best information.

NineT4,

Although most people find that the Bose 2" tweeters lack highs (and I agree) it does have one positive feature, it goes down to 2KHz. That Kicker tweeter is designed to only go down to 4.5KHz, meaning that you are relying on the 9" woofer to do 4.5KHz on down. That is a tall order for a 9" woofer and that is why the Bose 2" tweeters go down to 2KHz in the first place.

I think there are better options out there. You want a tweeter that at least goes down to 3KHz or lower if you are going to replace the Bose tweeters.

I believe in aiming a pair of high range tweeters at the drivers face from below the dash.

It works really well.
