List of RX8 specific subwoofer boxes

Just making this thread so I can link to it in our new FAQ

-List of RX8 specific subwoofer boxes

AutoCAD measurements of trunk for people wanting to build their own box

ZenEnclosures
An extremely popular choice due to the clean look and low price. The boxes are single chamber and can be for either 10" or 12" subwoofers. You can also get them with a single hole if you want to use only one subwoofer. The hole can be centered or offset to either side. I have personally used this box before and will attest to it's high quality fit and build. Well worth the money. Zen now makes amp racks as well. Click the link to check out their designs.

TC Customs
Extremely similar design to the ZenEncosure box, but with a little fiberglass work and a paint job.

ConceptEnclosures
Same exact thing as the ZenEnclosure box.

4080 Enclosures
Both driver and passenger side wheel well fiberglass boxes offered. Although some may feel the price is stiff, again I will personally attest that the fitment and build quality are FLAWLESS. The box(es) will include a grill to cover the subwoofer's face. The grill is recessed into the box to give it a super clean and almost OEM look. VERY nice boxes. Available for 10" subwoofer only. May not be available anymore.

WickedCAS
Similar to the 4080 enclosures in that they mount behind the driver and passenger wheel wells. I believe they are offered in both carpeted and painted finishes. Available for 10" subwoofers only.

+1 'dude. Looking forward to the FAQ! One advantage to the 4080 and the other corner enclosures as well, is that the spare tire kit will also fit.

Sorry the FAQ has taken.... well.... like 2 years to complete. LOL! But it's a lot of info and isn't something I think about when I have the time to work on it. Add in the fact I've been kinda trying to sell the 8....

Yeah. It's an 05, so it's getting some age/mileage on it. It's gonna be due for a ton of maintenance soon (plugs, all brakes, tires, etc), so if I'm gonna dump it, now is the time. But more than that, I'm just sick of babying it. If it wasn't my daily driver, then it would be great. But I'm sick of getting door dings from a-holes in parking lots, sick of love bug season, sick of getting rear ended and having the bumper replaced, lol, etc etc etc. Think I'm buying a well used pickup truck for a couple grand, dumping another grand into it for maintenance purposes and just using that until I can afford to have two cars. One junker and one weekend warrior. The junker goes to the grocery store, work, camping/fishing trips... the weekend warrior goes to the track and my garage. lol

Just buy the zenclosure one. They are cheap and look great. I've got them installed in my '04. I'll post up pics, they are unfinished however, I still plan on putting lighting in the amp rack and maybe a fan to cool the amp.

MD

I have the Zen enclosure. i love only issue that i came across was that the subs i was using from my old car where to big (Cubic Inches) and i kept blowing them so i had to get the stealth CompCvt subs from kicker. This is a older pick whit the first set of subs i had in it i will post a more updated pick later.

another option?

any one though of removing this cross bar and the plastic that basically has the trunk completely open to the cabin and either making your own box or flipping a zen enclourse towards the front having them stick out there?

I think we've all had that idea. The 8 *probably* needs the extra support for the lack of B pillars.. I certainly wouldn't risk it. You can get PLENTY of sound in the car through those seats.
