Keyless entry stopped working.
ok guys so here is my dilemma. My keyless entry system only came with 1 key and 1 key fob when i purchased the car. hooray. Well awhile after i purchased the car i noticed that i had to keep getting closer and closer to the car in order to get the key fob to work. So i figured the battery was dieing. No big deal right? So, i go to autozone and purchase two brand new batterys, replace and tada! nothing. Tried to recode, still wouldn't work. I figured hell you can get bad parts why not bad batteries. So i tried the other to no avail. I returned to autozone they exchanged the pack with a brand new pack. changed them in the store. nothing. I used their tester thing and it's saying the remote is putting out a signal. I was told their was an antenna in the rear bumper that is known to go bad so i pulled the bumper and can't find the antenna. Anyway im still working on this issue off and on when i have time and it's now about 3 years later. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Likely the key lots it's code when you replaced the battery. Call around to some locksmiths to find someone with a Mazda dealer key re-coder. Should cost you a small fee to have them re-code the keys to the car. Usually it only takes you 2 calls, since in any given area, the locksmiths tend to know who all is in the business, and who has what equipment, so the first guy you talk to can probably direct you to the right one.

Hey RIWWP, Is that for the KEY itself or the Key FOB. I have no issue's starting or unlocking it with the actual key but the FOB just doesn't work anymore. As i said i tested it at autozone their tester is saying it's putting out a signal. Isn't the code process to do the whole key on key off door open and unlocked then shut the door blah blah blah. I did it about 5 times and it just didn't work.. Are you saying it's because i need another Key or another Fob or? Im just looking for some clarity.

Ok so RIWWP, or anyone else who has a idea. I put another brand new battery in the key fob. I tried the reset. The car locks and unlocks which tells me it is in the correct mode. When i hit the button on my key fob the car does not respond, by locking and unlocking. Now, i've tested this fob at autozone on the thing they have which tells you if your remote is putting out a signal. It says that my remote is. Whether or not thats correct is yet to be proven. BUT, im going with it that it is correct. Would my issue be the reciever? or do some still think it would be the FOB. I appologize i realize this has been beaten to death i would just like a straight answer.

Quoting myself
The 2004 OEM FOB may be programmed by the dealer's M-MDS(Mazda Modular Diagnostic System), I believe. That is why most opted with the switchblade instead of trying to reprogram and reprogram the 2004 OEM FOB. It happened to many members when the FOB battery started to die down, after replacing it with a new one the FOB failed to work.
May be a dumb thing to ask... but are you sure the battery in the remote is OK?
As it was said, I'd have gone for a switchblade key as well... given the fact that the brand new, uncut key + remote combo is available for about $37 incl. shipping, that seems to be the way to go.

Ya, sounds odd to me as well. When I got my car it didn't have a fob, but an Ebay switchblade remote programmed no problem. I needed to then get a second key from the dealer to be able to program the key part of the switchblade, but I didn't even need that for the remote.
I have two original FOB that ran out of battery, replaced it with new ones and the FOB stopped responding. IR receiver at AutoZone shows that it works with the new battery, in the past two years, I've tried and tried with the same steps as programming the Switch Blade and the 2004 OEM FOBs doesn't respond. The Switch Blade did well only once. May be there is a different set of procedure just for that specific FOB that's different for the Switch Blade

You would have to ask the seller if the numbers below matches with his(the transponder separates from the FOB):
Visteon Model: 41525
FCC ID: KPU41788
IC : 4238A-41525
