Good afternoon all, I have been having some issues with my 6-disc changer. I think that the roller is stuck in between slots. Does anyone know the easiest way to try to fix this. There aren't any decent radio repair shops around. Is there a DIY? I am having a hard time finding anything on this iPhone because my computer is dead. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

 

If it's still under warranty, just take it in.

 

A: ) warranty replacement (its an 04, so this one is out)
B: ) Junkyard replacement (check the FS forum)
C: ) Pull the radio from the dash and disassemble it in an attempt to find whats sticking/broken (the DIY's I've seen detail only removing the radio from the housing, so I hope you're handy with a screwdriver.)

 

Alright, I'm gonna give removal/disassemble a try. And it is an 04, unfortunately no warranty for a while. But I'll keep it posted...and I'll have that camera ready for a possible diy...thanks.

 

buy an OEM mp3, this is what i did and works great.

 

okay...i spent a few hours on saturday disassembling the interior of my car. the CD player is definately stuck on the inside. I managed to get out my last CD but the unit is still unresponsive. So, I think I am just going to purchase another 6 disc or possibly mp3 player. If anyone knows anyone with one for sale please let me know.

 

My 6 changer won't even load more than one disc at a time.

 

mine will play discs but makes this really loud scratchy noise and sometime wont even play it will say check cd but the cd is fine because i just bought them and when i check the disc they are all scratchy. works again when i put the discs back in but when i turn the car off and turn it back on that scratchy noise comes on again and the dash will say check cd and send it right back out

Do not buy another 6 disk player. You will simply be disappointed in the long run. Get a Metra Kit and an aftermarket head unit. The OEM 6 disk players suck, and tear up frequently.

Mine broke a few months ago. Im just gonna use that as an excuse to get the metra kit.

 

Go with an aftermarket headunit or buy an iPod adapter for the stock headunit.
