iphone + audiolink ipod adapter = bluetooth equivalent?

i was thinking...

the iphone uses the same 30 pin connector as normal ipods. you'll plug it in normal to play music.

however, when you get a call and it's connected, what does everyone think will happen to the audio source? do we think you could talk and leave the iphone wherever it is in the car and the person talking would still come through the car speakers? if that's the case, it's like a workaround for bluetooth.

we probably won't know until someone tries it I guess.

The iPhone is really just another iPod with a phone 'feature'.

I'm not buying it.

I think you might be right on the Audiolink setup though.

It looks like a "Wait and see" issue on this. I thought about just buying one as soon as they come out, but my phone will be upgradeable in November, and I plan to get one then. At least I can have the insurance on it. I would hate to pay to replace it if it got dropped or wet.

I am also wondering how it will work with an iPod adapter. There should be a LOT of experimentation going on as soon as it hits the market. I look forward to it.

I own a Mac, and I like it a lot. I have an iPod too.

I'm not an "Apple hater"... I just think the iPhone is all hype and fluff, and in reality, nothing more than another iPod. It gets email -- wow, so do the rest of the phones in the world. Oh but it shows you the internet! So do the rest of the phones in the world. Oh but it does picture slide shows -- most useless feature ever.

It's a gimmick. It's designed like Macs are, although I'd argue a Mac is a very good investment, but the iPhone will soon be an 'accessory'. Aside from some gimmicky 'touch' technology (which by the way, if it breaks, you can't use your phone at ALL), it is a regular, average, run of the mill phone.

And to top it off... it's slow. Edge network only, no 3G. So have fun surfing the web on the iPhone at 1/4 the speed that I'll surf it on a Palm or Blackberry. And have fun connecting to your Yahoo mail, and nothing else (because you don't get any applications for it).

You can't connect to a corporate email network. Most "Smart" phones are used by executives and business people to manage email remotely. So iPhone is entirely useless to them.

It is an iPod with a phone feature. It has no applications other than the built-in ones, you can't write any for the phone, and there is no tactile feedback which is essential if you use your phone without looking.

it's not meant to be a smartphone. it's meant to be a little of everything. yes, it is still an ipod at heart, but is by no means a phone/internet/slideshow/video player afterthought. i don't need to look at wesbites on my phone, even if it had 3G. i can wait until i get to a computer to do that. no phone in the world is great for internet because the screen is small. but the iphone one-ups the competition at least because it shows what the internet really looks like.

i think the majority or the iphone buyers will like that they can do without having an ipod and phone and have one unit that does the job pretty darn well.

and i am not sure how a slide show/picture viewer is 'the most useless feature ever' being that with that size screen you can show off photos of anything from your computer in a more useable way than ANY OTHER PHONE/PDA on the market.

but you know what? stay away. i'll take your spot online. please, stay away. do me a favor.

and for god sakes, stop polluting my thread wtih unrelated garbage.

I could've got touch screen and music player functions and phone and picture viewer All in one couple months ago, its called W950.

but nah, I picked up a N73 instead, cuz I think its pointless.

iPhone's has dated technology, its cool just because its from Apple. but sorry I never like Apple's overpriced garbage. nope I dont have ipods and never liked it in the first place. I laugh everytime my cousin and some friends having Mac Book pro problems, overheating, dead ipods , etc.

With the same connection you would think it'll work. Most people with the audiolink installed it so they can tuck away their iPods. I would imagine that you'd have to leave the phone out to utilize the onboard microphone.
