Damn it Jim!

It would have looked so cool!

Plus, most of the time his potential customers would be listening to it in his parked car.

Then do the 8" inverted...it has those awesome red magnets!

To tell the truth I'm not too happy with my two 10" Image Dynamics subs in my 1080 enclosures...maybe I've gotten spoiled with 1/2" MDF and thin fiberglass just doesn't cut it...maybe the Image Dynamics just suck...not sure I can get much more bass without killing my ski-hole. Big Bear FTW!

Don't think you can't make the 5" subs work. You can. A quieter car would be a benefit but now you are adding weight to reduce the ambient noise floor. That's a benefit with anything though but the point of this car would be wasted with more weight added. I'd rather use an 8" or larger just to simplify things.

Nothing wrong with ID subs. They make some great stuff. I'd use their products anyday. Before I worked at Expressive Audio, I worked for a company called Audio Designs. I was the number 2 man behind Matt Borgardt who now is a main guy at Image Dynamics. We did lots of r&d for Image back then. We won lots of shows with ID products. Back when I knew Paul (psonoda), this is where I worked.

You've just gotten used to it. You'd hate 5" subs! There are many things that could be a factor. Maybe the boxes aren't a solid as many think they are and "ring" a bit causing them to lose some efficiency and sound quality. They are locked away hidden in the back corners of the trunk. I personally have never been a fan of firing subs into a trunk although it is very common. My logic is that I'd never place my home theater sub in a different room than the rest of the system so why would I in a car? You could probably get more bass with the same subs but different boxes. You'd almost certainly kill usable trunk space though compared to where they are tucked away now.

Yeah...It all looked really good on paper! Buy two 1080 boxes...get a pair of the best small enclosure subs out there...and presto!

But it just doesn't hit like my 18" Cerwin Vega in my Explorer did...and i really thought it would, i really did, i swear!

Here are some interesting and different ways to get bass.
The LAT 250 measures 3.5" x 10.25"
The LAT 500 measures 7" x 16"
The LAT 700 measures 8.625" x 18"
