Interior Painting
Im thinking about getting some pieces of the RX8 interior painted a Midnight Blue & such. I was wondering what peoples experiences with this was? Also curious how hard the interior is to take apart, since I would like to do that to save money in the long shot!
Thanks

what are you WANTING to paint? the most common thing to paint is the rear center piece that goes into the trunk - but other than that you don't really see a whole lot of painted things.

Wanting to paint pieces of the dash, the doors & all alone the center console itself. Ill try to get some photos & mark it in paint later to show exactly what I was thinking.

Not a good thing to paint. It will end up chipping and looking like crap. Especially if you keep the car outside. If anything i'd get it covered. Theres lots of vinyl shops around that do a almost factory looking job and have any color you want.

This reminds me of back in the day when civics used to paint that. Please do it tastefully~! not ricefully.
Here are some images of the interior. Stuff outlined in blue is what I was thinking, matching on each side of course. Trying to make it as symmetrical as possible through out the car. The first & second photo doesn't show the same outline as the last, but the last picture is the way I would like to see it.

I think that if you match it right.. and dont go overboard it would look good. and the paint wont chip and crack if you do a good job on it. here is a link to somebody who painted the interior of a celica
( http://newcelica.org/forums/showthre...t=painted+dash )
.. not sure if the rx has the same material used to makes its dash as the celica but im sure if you did a good job and used the right paint it would work out good.

I wont be painting it at all. I dont trust my hands with that kind of pressure! haha. It will be going to a body shop for all the work. I just need to bring them the pieces.

the interior is very resistant to stuff. Its even tough to get a fresh coat of armour-all to look right (nonsplotchy).
They would probably have to sand the areas down to get the paint to adhere, which would destroy the texture. But then again with money, anything is possible.
So I guess the answer is that to look good its not going to be cheap.
Some are very hard to remove, others are very easy, Id say that 80% of the parts you want to paint can be removed in 40 minutes total.
