Interior LEDs

Hi, I don't really know the ropes here, so I am sorry if I posted in the wrong place or if this is a double, but my search for LED returned nothing.

In any case, my girlfriend thinks I should get interior lights like

I'm not really opposed to the idea, but my heart isn't really in this mod, so I just have a couple questions.
  1. Are the lights dull and lame/does it take 20 lights to produce that effect?
  2. Is the installation tricky if I do permanent instead of cigarette lighter? (assuming I do it correctly and don't have wires hanging all over)
  3. Which lights should I get/which switch panel?
  4. Is this just stupid, tacky and not worth it?

Thats the right idea, but I would like to be able to control them more and turn them on or off or auto with doors.

Any ideas?

yea, you could do that. you'd just need a 3 way switch and a little know how.

Let's say I don't have the know how. Could you and all the members help me?

Plus, are you even sure you'll have a set for me if I go for it?

It's an easy mod and would take all of 10 minutes to install with zero previous experience. I have RR's kit in my 8 and I love it

do you have to use a lot of different tools to be able to wire it up?

I was able to fully install with, (1) pair of scissors, (1) pair of pliers, and a tiny bit of electrical tape, and a coat hanger that was all I needed on top of what RR sends with his kit. A flashlight might be helpful especially if your installing while its dark out. lol.

PM RR, he will be able to answer all your questions about this kit, or visit the link from his signature, these have been discussed quite a bit in that thread.

I got Rasp's red kit, and I also replaced every interior light with red so when I open the door the entire cabin is red. I love the way it looks.

Could you get a red filter and place it inside the plastic cover for the door lights, or would you guys recommend red bulbs?

I would recommend red LEDs myself. They make them in 194, which is the size......if you didn't know that.

colored leds are the only way to fly. very easy to install everywhere (except the courtesy lights above the arm rests and the lens coming off in the glove box is a real PIA)
