Interior Heat ?

Well we are coming up on my first summer with the Rx-8 and my first summer having anything special inside my car. I just want to know how safe it is to leave my mp3 player in the car (Creative Zen Touch 40GB). It rests where the seat heater controls would be on the cars with the leather seats. It stays attached with a little velcro strip. I'm not worried about it getting stolen or anything, just more of the fact I'll get in sometimes and it will be REALLY hot. Will it stay cooler if I leave it in the center console or in the glove box or something? Just wondering what you guys have done in the past as I'm kindof tired of carrying it around in my pocket at work.

just fine

I have had my ipod in the car for over 1 year now with no problem. It is actually not that hot in the car. 120 F is not that bad for something as simple as an mp3 player.b

That's one positive response. Do you have yours right out in the open, or like in a glove box or somewhere shaded. Wonder how much of a temperature difference that causes.

I have mine in the center console. I bet there isn't much of a difference in temperature in the glove box, center console, or out in the open in a car that is sitting in the sun.

Don't let your electronics bake in the heat. Yes these things are microcomputers but don't some people go all out to keep their home computers cool? Protecting your device from the heat will help prolong your battery life, LCD screen, and minimize defects or malfunctions. As with many things in life, if you don't do preventive maintainence you won't see the detrimental effects for some period of time.

Just toss it under the driver seat or in the back in that center cubby-hole **** or behind the driver/passenger seat on the floor or covered with a towel on a seat or on the floor. Basically anywhere else is better than there.

What I've been doing lately is putting it in that little compartment behind the passenger seat and that seems to be working wonders!

sunlight does actually affect them... i have an ipod 30 gb video.. what happens is the screen gets a type of rainbow color on the bottom of it... from the effects of 1/2 image burn.. its just hot enough to do something... but u cant notice it unless u look for it.

UV may effect the ipod but all I am saying is that I bet there is less of a temperature gradient in the car from the glove box to the center of the console to under the seat.
