Installing subwoofer enclosure through seats
I currently have the zenclosure box holding a single 12 in my trunk.
It's an RE sub and it sounds really nice and gets pretty loud.
But I'm considering building a ported box around 2 - 2.5 cu ft
On the RE website they say that a sealed box is not recommended for this sub
And I'm sure it would be louder ported anyway
Anyway, my question is obviously the box won't fit through the trunk opening
Can I take the rear seats and center plastic piece out,
And then I think there is a metal piece that goes across the car
Is that removable as well ?
I would love to go ported ! I'm just not sure how to get a bigger box in there other than this. Any thoughts ? Would that work ?

2 things - ported is "louder" than a sealed.. but only around the very small range it is built for.. so you may end up with some crazy lows and a big gap between the lows and where your interior speakers pick up.. great for competition but not as great for everyday sound quality
and yeah you can remove the seats and get to the trunk through there, but it isn't much bigger of an opening (maybe an inch or so) you'd have to built the box inside of your trunk.

I have no idea if structural bars behind the rear seats could be removed but obviously it would not be a good idea. If you have not seen what it looks like with the rear seats removed then check out my album.

The support bars do come out and are very easy to uninstall and reinstall. you shouldn't have a problem with that if you need to go in from that direction.
